Feelings Puzzles

Age range

2-5 years

This activity helps to develop

  • Emotional skills
  • Visual perceptual skills
  • Language development

Materials

  • Pictures of people experiencing a variety of emotions- happy, sad, angry, tired, excited etc.
  • Scissors, glue
  • cardboard

Instructions

Adult pastes pictures onto cardboard backing. Using scissors, cut pictures into 2 or more pieces depending on age and skill of child.

The puzzles are then ready for child to play with. Whilst completing the puzzles, encourage your child to talk about the features of the faces and the emotions shown. For example; "the lady is smiling so she is happy".
